Thankfully this is beginning to change with New Zealand companies leading the way in sustainably sourced and low emission materials. At Skara we look forward to a future where all manufactures make the effort to use environmentally friendly materials and manufacturing processes.
The Skara website highlights products that are exceeding expectations for sustainability. We believe it’s important to give consumers this information so they can make conscious decisions to support these manufacturers. And by highlighting the environmentally friendly products we hope to encourage other companies to review their choice of materials and manufacturing processes to earn the sustainability icon too.
Keep an eye out for products with the sustainable icon which indicates this product goes above and beyond to use environmentally friendly materials.
Melteca is an excellent example of a high quality product resulting from successfully reducing or reusing resources to minimise our impact on the natural environment.
New Zealand made, responsibly sourced and low emission; Melteca supports the New Zealand Green Building Council’s Green Star and Homestar tools. Green Star is a rating system for the design, construction and operation of buildings, fitout and communities, and Homestar measures the health, warmth and efficiency of New Zealand houses.
Melteca is low emission and Melteca on Lakepine MDF is especially low in formaldehyde – in fact it contains less than the average apple!
The Melteca manufacturing plant holds an enviable array of third party certifications for both the product itself and the way it is made. Third party certifications provide assurance that you are choosing quality laminated panels which meet or often surpass, rigorous industry testing and standards.
Environmental Choice applies to Melteca Standard and Hi-Gloss Ranges
FSC applies to most decors in our Melteca Standard range on MDF (excluding FR).
